G SABARIGIRI
Sabarigiri started learning classical dance forms from age eight onwards. He had his initial lessons in classical dance forms from Noopura Dance Academy and later joined the prestigious Midhilalaya Dance Academy under the able tutelage of Guru Smt. V. Mydhili. Under her guidance, he learned Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattom and Kuchippudi. Along with the Midhilalaya dance troupe, he has given numerous performances throughout India including the Soorya Festival, South Zone Cultural Centre in Tanjore, Natyanjali Festival in Chidambaram. Along with his career in IT, he has been pursuing his passion for dance by giving performances and teaching students at Midhilalaya Dance Academy. He has taught numerous students during the past 13 years. In 2001, he joined Samudra Performing Arts, an international contemporary dance theatre company based in Trivandrum and started performing with them in India as well as abroad. Along with the company, he has performed at the Spoleto Festival in Italy, Glamour of India Festival in the Netherlands, South Asian Dance Festival in the UK. In India, he has performed in the Soorya Festival, Talam Festival, Swaralaya festival, Ananya Festival, Bharat Rang Mahotsav, etc. During his school and college days, he has participated and won many prizes in the Inter School and College Youth festivals. He was also the scholarship recipient of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi for Bharathanatyam. He has choreographed many classical and semi classical dances. In Singapore, he has performed at the Asianet Vishukani 2008, Inauguration of Natakavedi – Singapore and the IAEC Onam Celebrations at the Sembawang CC in 2008.
G GOWRI
An Ayurvedic physician by profession, Gowri started taking lessons in Classical dance forms from a very tender age of five. She is a student of Guru. Smt. V Mydhili of Midhilalaya Dance Academy and is well versed in Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattom and Kuchippudi. She has given numerous performances and have won various prizes in Classical dance competitions. She was awarded the ‘Kalathilakom’ title of the Inter Collegiate competition for three consecutive years. She has given numerous performances including the South Zone Cultural Festival, Govt. of India – Pondicherry and Tanjore, Nishagandhi Festival, Asianet Vishukani performance in Singapore and for IAEC of the Sembawang CC, Singapore. She also has teaching experience at the Midhilalaya Dance Academy for 5 years. She has participated in Natyasasthra workshop organised by Soorya in Trivandrum.
